Mountain Walking Holiday Description Cairngorms Mountain Walking Holiday. NEW for 2010!

Famous for its tundra-like plateaux, steep corries, arctic flora and exciting wildlife the Cairngorms will cast its spell as we explore this vast area.

What, when and how much? The week will start with a day or two on the  more accessible Munros around Glenshee and Glen Ey before moving on to the remoter and more challenging summits such as Ben Macdui, Cairn Toul, Beinn a’ Bhuird and Ben Avon.  This is a holiday for real mountain lovers, for apart from bagging several Munros we will be learning about the delicate environment through which we are passing, its past, its present and we can try and speculate about its future.

Accommodation For this mountain walking holiday we have taken over the Mar Lodge Base Camp, a well known walkers hostel and formerly the stable block of Mar Lodge itself. Situated 4 miles west of Braemar the Lodge, once the property of Queen Victoria, is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland.The hostel has ample facilities and we will be sleeping in 2 or 4 bedded rooms(Link to http://www.marlodgeestate.org.uk/basecamp.htm)

A continental style breakfast and two-course evening meal will be provided each day at the hostel by WalkDeeside.  There will be a selection of ingredients available for you to make up your own packed lunches, along with tea and coffee for drinks at any time and to fill those important hill flasks.
