Please find opposite a guide to enable you to self assess your preference for joining a WalkDeeside activity. It is important to us from a safety point of view that you choose a grade of activity which enables you to achieve a realistic challenge, safely, with all its inherent sense of personal achievement.

Easy Walking -

Walks will be up to 3 miles in length on tracks and paths with no significant ascent.  They will take about 3-4 hours with ample stops for lunch, visits to places of interest and photographs en route.

Moderate Walking -

Walks will be about 4-8 miles in length on tracks and paths with generally no more than 600m of ascent. They will take about 5-6 hours with ample stops for lunch, visits to places of interest and photographs en route.

Challenging Walking -

Walks will be about 9-12 miles with generally no more than 600-1000m of ascent and 6-7 hours to complete. Some walking will take place on rough ground but no high summits will be planned.  A reasonable level of fitness would be expected.

Strenuous Walking -

Walks will be about 10-14 miles, will take about 7-9 hours to complete, with generally 1100m+ of ascent, and will be on open, high ground, on more remote paths and tracks than moderate or challenging. It is anticipated that guests will have a good level of fitness and walking experience to enable them to tackle safely some of the more remote Munros.
