Walking in Glen Tanar

The magnificent Glen Tanar Estate offers extensive, beautiful, ancient Caledonian pinewoods in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.  The family-run Highland estate, which works in partnership with Scottish Natural Heritage and the Forestry Commission, is a haven for wildlife including capercaillie, red deer, black grouse, wildcat  and much more. 

In the midst of this 25,000 acre estate, featuring some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery, is the Butlers Lodge, a luxury self catering cottage accommodating up to 6 people.  As the name suggests, the lodge was formerly the home of Lord Glentanar’s butler and sits in close proximity to wonderful forest walks, a trout loch and an equestrian centre.  Butler’s Lodge is a two storey property with a master bedroom, a generously sized bathroom with shower, two sitting rooms and a large kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two twin bedrooms and a shower room. With an enclosed garden and patio area, this property is an ideal base from which to explore Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms.

Your package includes three nights' accommodation in the Butler's Lodge, and three days' guided walking from an experienced WalkDeeside guide who will share with you some superb walks and wildlife.
